Ahlan wa sahlan. Welcome to the NAAMA web site, a good source of information about one of the most dynamic and dedicated organizations around. NAAMA is the only pan-Arab medical association in the country, serving medical professionals of Arab descent from all Arab countries.
Committed to our members’ professional development, NAAMA provides multiple opportunities for continuing medical education. Indeed, NAAMA is one of the only Arab American professional organizations with the ability to grant Continuing Medical Education credits (CMEs).
Committed to humanitarianism, the NAAMA Foundation provides funds to the sick and suffering in members’ countries of origin and here in America. The Liaison Committee structure, which utilizes personal, on-the-ground connections in Arab countries, allows the Foundation to assess and respond to critical need. The list below is by no means exhaustive but I’m proud to share some important recent accomplishments with you.
After four years in the making, the Palestine Diabetes Institute was officially dedicated recently in the city of AlBireh. In cooperation with The Jerusalem Fund and Physicians for Peace, the NAAMA Foundation has made it possible for Palestinians to get help for this chronic disease. The Institute has hired endocrinologists, lab technicians, a nurse and support staff and is fully functional in 800 square meters of a donated two-story building. The Foundation supports the Alexandria University Hospital Pediatric Cancer Center in Alexandria, Egypt, by training physicians in oncology and hematology and by providing severely needed equipment. Our involvement with the Center began back in 2003.
NAAMA physicians taught Pediatric Advanced Life Support courses to providers and instructors in Jordan last April, in cooperation with Jordan University Hospital, in which 33 students and four medical schools participated.
And last year, we funded the Dental Sealant project of the Ajialouna Association in Beirut, Lebanon.
Charity and humanitarianism – They’re part of our mission as an organization. You can help NAAMA achieve it through your donations. Thank you.
