President’s Message

Welcome to NAAMA’s new and exciting web site!  Hearing from members about how they prefer to conduct business in 2012, we made the decision and investment in a more interactive web site, one that allows members to update their own professional profile, register for NAAMA functions with a fully operational shopping cart and obtain information specifically for members.

We may have some kinks to get out of the system and we’d appreciate your feedback to improve the web site in order to better serve your needs, please contact us.

NAAMA has served its members since 1975, with a proven track record of continuing medical education and humanitarian work, networking and friendship building, and connecting our countries of origin with our American home. NAAMA remains committed to that mission today.

If we do it in a different, more high tech way these days, it’s to serve our members in the way they deserve and consistent with the demands of the ever-changing communication technology.

Many of our chapters have scheduled lectures, picnics, fund raising events, and alike during this year and five new chapters are under construction. Please let us know if you know about a city where a chapter is needed.

We’ve recently published the new AlHakeem, NAAMA’s journal, with its exciting look and in its electronic format!  The response has been really encouraging.  If you haven’t done so, we’d appreciate your input to a quick, four-question survey.  Here is the link: I would like to invite our members and supporters to contribute to the upcoming issues and to write about the significance of NAAMA to them and to highlight the achievements of our members and chapters.  The next issue is coming in June.

As political and social upheaval in Syria and the rest of the Arab world continues, bringing more disruption and loss of life, NAAMA has made a decisive move: We have purchased and outfitted two new ambulances for use in cities of greatest need in Syria. We have partnered with the Syrian Arab Red Crescent to provide these ambulances as a demonstration of our support to the Syrian people.  We have also donated to the Ajialouna Association in Lebanon to expand their important dental sealant program to cities outside Beirut. Furthermore, We have made a major commitment to the thousands of Iraqi refugees in Michigan by our support of health and mental health services provided by ACCESS (Arab Community Center for Economic and Social Services).

NAAMA’s commitment to continuing medical education is seen through our 26th International Medical Convention, taking place in Istanbul, Turkey, July 7th – 12th, and our 34th National Medical Convention, taking place in Chicago, Illinois, August 31st – September 3rd.  We would be delighted to have you with us.  For more information and to register, please click on the Events tab.

NAAMA knows that there are thousands of Arab American physicians, dentists, pharmacists and other healthcare professionals across this great country serving their communities.  We know they’re out there but they might not know that NAAMA is here for them!  It is you, NAAMA members and families, who really tell the story of NAAMA’s value to friends, colleagues and co-workers.  Please reach out to our Arab American medical community and bring them to NAAMA so that we can all learn, serve and celebrate our culture.
